Our Vajrayana World Blog Site Launches

NOT JUST A PRIVATE AFFAIR

Agreed—we're living in a time when there's a huge call to awaken in our hearts and minds. For Buddhists of all varieties, this means living in ways that move us, heliotropically, towards awakening.

Vajrayana came into this world thirteen centuries ago yet it has not become obsolete and it is not unsuitable for modern Western minds.

During this time of transmission from the Himalayas, we've invested ourselves, on many levels, in Tibetan teachers, teachings and meditation. We've not done much to create opportunities for sharing our experiences and understandings and for working for the greater good.

In creating this website, I wish to do some good by offering a cyberspace where the Western Vajrayana community can cultivate their connectedness, engage in meaningful conversations and learn how to build smarter Dharma organizations We need to get a move-on with our bodhisattvic responsibility.

I've thought about this site for over a year now and re-invented the concept more times than I care to admit. My friends are sick of hearing about it. I also put time into personal reflection on my intentions, abilities, and commitments. I didn't score all that high in these areas, but I'm good to get started. This is a small beginning, a small pond, but with time and your participation, it can become a large pond with many fish(es ?)

I don't feel much confidence about creating a website like this but it's what's in my heart, so I have no choice.

It's likely that if we don't improve, Vajrayana will join the endangered species list. Not only would that deny future generations but it would also short-change us right now.

My spiel is that Vajrayana is not just a private affair. It has always been for the mutual benefit of self and others and should not be co-opted for intellectual enjoyment, entertainment and therapy. This is plain wrong.

We have a responsibility to bring the viewpoint of Vajrayana to bear on the world. There's no limit on what a vibrant Vajrayana world could look like— inwardly and outwardly, individually and collectively. Let's step up!

Okay, so now I've said my piece, I’d love to know, what do you think? Please join me by throwing a pebble into the pond in the Comments below. Thank you.
