I entered Buddhism first in 1986 when I helped host monks from Drepung Loseling in New Orleans as they toured the United States performing their Sacred Music, Sacred Dance tour. In the early 1990's Lama Tharchin Rinpoche offered teachings in a nearby town. I was fortunate to be able to attend these. A short time later I met Ven. Lama Ngawang Tsultrim Rinpoche who founded Dhongak Tharling, a Rigdzin Dakgyud Nyingma Dharma center, in New Orleans later that year, and I became his student.
Lama Dechen Yeshe Wangmo came to Dhongak Tharling to give a Dharma talk and I felt an immediate and strong connection with her, one that has endured to the present. I have been fortunate to attend, Dakini Day practices, and have benefited from attending Lama Wangmo’s online Dharma study. A peak experience was to do a pilgrimage with Lama Wangmo through Tibet in 2010.
I am a clinical social worker specializing in working with children 0 through 5 years of age who have experienced a trauma.
