Annual Pilgrimages to Tibet

Lord Buddha Shakyamuni, Padmasambhava, the Greeks, Mayans, Jesus,  and Mohammad have all praised the value of pilgrimage. In Buddhism, it is an excellent method of purification and illumination.

For Western Buddhists, pilgrimage is particularly important because not living in a Buddhist culture, we are in danger of developing a mere intellectual grasp of Dharma rather than absorbing it as a way of life leading to authentic illumination.

Since 2009, the Foundation has offered annual pilgrimages to the sacred sites of the Nyingma and the life story of Yeshe Tsogyal in Central Tibet. In 2016, we expanded our reach to include Eastern Tibet (Kham, Amdo & Golok).
